International Multi-Martial Art Method and Community of Martial Artists

The MKG Method is a world-renowned multi-style Martial Art training platform that focuses on developing practical skills in six primary martial arts, and several secondary martial arts. These styles are trained independent of one another, and integrated into an intuitive blend known as the MKG Blend.

MKG Practitioners become proficient across a full spectrum of martial artistry, while also being encouraged and empowered to specialize in the areas the interest them most.

MKG Martial Arts International as an organization was founded in 1982 by our Head Instructor, Rick Faye. Mr. Faye is regarded as one of the world’s premier instructor’s in a variety of martial arts. To learn more about Rick Faye, and MKG Detroit, scroll down.

TRAPPING ARTS
Jeet Kune Do, Wing Chun, Panantukan, Silat

“Trapping” is a term that describes the concept of pinning, pulling, or degrading the limbs of an opponent in order to:

  1. Create space for striking

  2. Use the opponent’s energy against them

  3. Limit the opponent’s offense/defense

  4. Make the opponent “fight your fight”

Trapping is exciting, effective, and fascinating. The arts the most commonly use this tactic include Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do fighting method, Wing Chun Kung Fu, Indonesian Silat, and Filipino Panantukan/Suntukan. At MKG Detroit, we train all of these methods in isolation, and in an intuitive blend.
